Collins Dictionary defines a quarter life crisis as “a crisis that may be experienced in one’s twenties, involving anxiety over the direction and quality of one’s life.”
Quarter Life Crisis from BBC Radio 4 was originally broadcast in 2013. Katharine Whitehorn presents the programme and meets three 20-somethings to understand why they’re struggling to find jobs post-university, let alone jobs they actually like doing, or which hold relevance to their studies. These people grew up in a British political landscape which promoted higher education as a means of securing a promising career, and yet the reality of working life doesn’t match up to what they were led to believe they should study towards.
